Honestly, I found a lot of problems in the logic of every point mentioned as evidence for ETI. Don't get me wrong, I want to believe, but I haven't seen any evidence at all. I guess it is stupid to believe that we are alone in the universe, is definitively very likely that there are other forms of life out there. Intelligent life? Less likely. We tend to think that intelligence is tend to survive through the process of natural selection, but that is not what we observe in this planet. Intelligence have been here just for a few milena, while other organisms have been here for millions of years without ever developing intelligence, and there will probably still be here after we disappear. This article is supposed to provoke some outward thinking here, not brainwash people into some sort of submission to the all-knowing blog writer... And for one, how is it that in a universe so vast as this, and what is possibly a multiverse, could we, mere humans, be the only intelligent life amongst all of these stars and planets and solar systems, most yet to be discovered by us. How long ago was it that humans, super geniuses, thought that the earth was a flat surface and that we would simply fall off the edge if we ventured too far? And like what Ashokray mentioned, it wasn't very long ago that we were sure that the sun orbited Earth, that we were the center of our solar system and the universe. Just think a bit outside the box, that's all that I am asking. Don't be so quick to assume that because YOU personally haven't experienced something, that it doesn't exist. And the intelligent life out there, if it has made contact, WHY THE HELL would it want to contact governments of the world? And if it did, why would they tell us? So that everyone could rush into a mass panic and blame each other or point fingers, and eventually kill ourselves? That wouldn't be very intelligent of us, would it? Another bit about us being so presumptuous, how long did we disregard fisherman's tales of colossal squid? For EVER until finally a dead carcass washed up shore and we were like, oh DUH. They were telling the truth. I'm not saying every single account of contact or sightings should be believed, but should they all be disregarded and the witnesses be pushed out and called crazy, or frauds? No, certainly not. I've been high at a party at the top of mount wellington playing live music, which i might add take shrooms if u play live music because u create music you'd never thought u would and NEVER make a mistake. But back to the party of about 70 people I had a an experience with noises communicating with me! Although the noises sounded like nothing id heard before, they told me PLAY MUSIC WE GAVE IT TO YOU! i went and started playing the whole party came and danced in an almost trance state 20% being on drugs and the other 70% NOT no words were spoken but everyone knew wat was happening and to top it all off after we played the guitar amp with definately nothing plugged into it, made the same cosmic signals i heard. There is a lot more to the story! But my final comments consist of this, don't judge someone for their beliefs, Believe me or not i know the people who will!
